One exception, stated plainly: if you turn on Scan Bill by adding your own
Google Gemini API key, the receipt image you scan is sent to Google's API to be read.
That is the only outbound request Cashflow ever makes. Full details in the

Data ownership
It's your database. Take it with you.
Cashflow is a plain DB file you own. Export it, read it, move it to a new phone, or open it in any tool that speaks SQL. There's no lock-in because there's no server.
Restoring is just as direct — pick a .json backup or a .db
file and the app rebuilds itself from it.

Questions, answered
Is Cashflow free?
Yes. There's no subscription, no paid tier and no ads. Scan Bill uses your own Google Gemini key, which has a free tier of its own.
Do I need an account?
No. There's no sign-up and no server to sign up to. Install the app and start adding transactions.
Where exactly is my data stored?
In the app's private storage on your phone. Nothing is uploaded, mirrored or synced anywhere.
What happens if I lose my phone?
Because there's no cloud copy, the answer is backups: export a JSON backup (or the raw .db) from Settings whenever it matters, and keep it somewhere you trust. Restoring on a new phone takes one tap.
Can I stop someone opening the app?
Yes — set an app PIN, turn on fingerprint unlock, and switch on hide balances so amounts stay masked until you unmask them.
Is there an iPhone version?
Cashflow ships on Android today. The ios app is not released yet.
